I grew up in the Catholic church. Above the altar, hanging from the wall was a large crucifix. I never thought much about it (or any crucifix) until I started attending an Assembly of God church. There, hanging in the sanctuary, was a cross rather than a crucifix. I didn’t understand the meaning of this simple difference. And then something came to me not long ago: the reason for the empty cross.

He’s no longer on the cross.

Jesus was crucified nearly two thousand-years ago. He died and was buried and then rose again. He took the sins of the world upon Himself and, when He died, he took them with him. He set us free from those sins that we may have an opportunity at everlasting life with Him and the Father in Heaven if we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

On this Resurrection Sunday, remember that He is alive. He is sitting, right now, at the right hand of His Father in Heaven. Jesus is there for you now and always, until the end of time. He knows you better than you know yourself and He wants you to know Him.

Remember His sacrifice but not with sadness. Remember it with joy and keep that joy in your heart.

If you haven’t given your life to Christ or have been unsure, now is an awesome time to commit your life to He who gave His life for you. Spring is a time for renewal; the grass and trees will start to turn green and the sun will be warmer and warmer. Time for you to give your life to Jesus. Simple acknowledge that you have sinned and are a sinner. Repent of those sins and ask Jesus to come into your life as your Lord and Savior and believe it in your heart and you shall be saved.

Happy Resurrection Sunday and God bless!
