I was getting ready for work this morning and I was trying to figure out what my next blog should be. All of a sudden, the phrase ‘get a life’ popped into my head.
Okay, where did that come from? Phrases like that just don’t randomly pop into my head. Of course, the next thing that popped into my head was William Shatner on Saturday Night Live doing the ‘Get a LIfe’ skit where he tells a bunch of convention attendees that it’s just a TV show (if I was better at this stuff, I would have inserted the required animated GIF below).
Anyhow, I knew that I couldn’t write about that since we’re so close to Easter.
So, after getting ready, I sat down to read my daily Bible plan reading and the verse of the day was this:
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23 KJV
There it was staring me right in the face.
If you’re reading this and you’re not sure where I’m going with this, it’s really quite simple: Jesus is how you get a life…an eternal life, at that.
On Sunday, we will be celebrating the anniversary of the resurrection of Jesus. He gave his life so that we would have an eternal life with Him, as long as we believe in Him.
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father , but by me.” John 14:6 KJV
That’s the essence of what we are celebrating on Sunday. God gave up His only Son so that we might be saved and have a chance at eternal life with Him in Heaven.
So that’s what I want you to take away from this message and from Sunday’s message: that Jesus is your way to eternal life in Heaven.
But the first thing you need to do is accept Him as your Lord and Savior. This will start your towards salvation and eternal life. It’s not going to be an easy one. There are times when you will fall (trust me on this one) but God is always there to support you and help get you back on your feet.
So; Happy Resurrection Sunday to everyone. I hesitate to say Happy Easter as there are pagan overtones to that (another blog for another day).
Take care and God Bless!
