I was doing my daily Bible reading and Phillipians 4:19 was my verse of the day:
“My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
After I read this, I thought about our recent move from Point Pleasant, NJ. to Toms River.
We moved to a smaller house since we’re now officially “empty nesters.”
We decided to sell our house back at the beginning of the year. It’s was a lot of house for two people and the property taxes in our area were getting to be ridiculous. I mean, $7800 a year ridiculous.
The entire time we were going through this process, we always kept God at the front of it all. We made sure to consult Him in every decision we made. We always knew that He would bring us to the place we needed to be. And He led us to the place we are in now.
Now, it’s not brand new. The house was build in 1997 and it has its share of issues such as some mold in the crawlspace and a few other things that can easily be fixed. Oh, and did I mention that the property taxes went down to $3100 a year? Yeah, a nice savings for sure.
Okay, confession time: it’s in an adult active community (hence the lower property taxes). Now before you start laughing and saying that we moved into a retirement villlage…well, we did.
The neighbors are great and the association fees are low. They take care of snow shoveling, trash collection, and lawn care. It’s not a bad deal for $30 a month.
But I’m not going to second guess where God brought us. We (meaning my wife) spent a lot of time going around with the real estate agent looking at different properties. We were first looking at the adult communities but then decided that we wanted a single home that wasn’t in an association. But all the areas we looked in weren’t the greatest when it came to crime and the appeal of the area.
We ended up going back to the adult community idea. And that’s when God led us to where we are now.
And we’re thankful for it. He has put us in a better place both physically and financially.
And if my wife reads this, I have to give her all the credit for getting us to where we are today. She spent so much time and energy looking for houses and then going to see them as well as doing all of the packing of the house (I was working during this entire time). She kept everything organized and made the process a lot easier.
The long and short of it is that God will always be with you when you need Him. And He will always take you to where He needs you to be.
