Folks, we are in a battle.

But it’s not one that you can see. Well, sometimes you can if you happen to see a video of two different sides of a protest confronting one another. Yep, they can get ugly.

But this battle is a spiritual one.

We’ve known about the main player for the adversary. He’s been written about in the Bible as well as in a number of modern-day works of literature. He’s got a team working with him, both spiritual and physical.

Now here is the $64,000 question: is the church preparing us for this battle?

It’s been tough for me and my wife trying to find a church to attend that will teach what we want to learn. And when I say that, what I mean is that we’ve gotten past the ‘Joel Osteen’ type of preaching. Now don’t get me wrong. I’m not trying to put down Joel or what he teaches. For me, he’s a motivational speaker.

I mean, just think about all the things that we have come up against just in the last two years: the vaccine guidance to wear masks like good little soldiers; the vaccine mandate; being told to stay in our homes or we will die the minute we walk out the door; being told to shut down our businesses to stop the spread (except if you’re a major department store or a gas station); drag queen story hour (this one is a bit off-topic but you get the point); being told that we have to use specific pronouns for people.

And the list goes on.

I believe there is a force behind all of this and it’s Satan himself. And we need to be prepared for the battle ahead. And the best way to be prepared is to make sure that you stay in the Word. Beginning in Ephesians 6:10, we are taught to put on the whole armor of God. And one piece of that armor is the shield of faith, which is the Word of God.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12 NKJV
